Back from his visit to Texas

Marcus and his Mommy went to Texas to see Daddy. They had lots of fun, and wore matching outfits. Daddy is very happy in all the photos. He must be proud of his little Marcus.

He's getting so big.

I haven't been keeping up on this blog for Marcus, have I? Bad Grandma! Well, Marcus is getting so big and starting to smile, so I thought I'd post a few new photos of him. He and his Mom are going to Texas to see Daddy next week. Then we'll have photos of Marcus and Kelvin together!

A trip to Ikea with Marcus

Today, Michelle, Christina and I took Marcus on a trip to the new Ikea store. This was a good opportunity for Michelle to try out her new snuggly infant carrier. It worked like a charm, he was quiet as a mouse for the entire walk through the store. The only time he made a sound was when she switched from one shoulder to the other. I'd say that Marcus likes the snuggly.

Happy Birthday Marcus!

Today is finally the day! Michelle's contractions got closer and stronger yesterday, so we came to the hospital late last night. We got here around 11pm. Her labor is progressing slowly, but we are told that this is typical of a first baby. After a long, long night and 8 grueling hours, she only progressed to 3cm. So she got her epidural, took a long nap, and occasionally wakes up to look at how big her contractions are on the monitor. She is happy to have passed Cinco De Mayo.

More to come as the labor progresses and the baby arrives. Well, its 3 in the afternoon, and her labor is progressing very slowly. The last pelvic exam showed her at 5cm. Not a whole lot to update at this time. Michelle is hungry for a steak, but they will only give her ice chips. How long is this going to last?

Latest update; around 4:20, the midwife was checking Michelle, and her water broke. At 7cm, she should start moving along quickly now. The epidural seemed to have worn off, so Michelle got another epidural around 7pm. She was 9cm dialated then. After 1 hour 45 minutes of pushing, Marcus was born at 9:20pm. He was 9lb 2.5 oz and 22 inches long. Let the photo taking begin...

False alarm?

So Michelle started having contractions every 5 minutes for over an hour, then she thought her water broke. We went to the hospital and waited 5 hours just to be seen by the midwife! Apparently, her water didn't break and she was still only 1 cm dilated, so we were sent home. Needless to say, Michelle was very disappointed, mostly about having to wait so long for the midwife. A little frustrated and anxious to get this over with. Soon, very soon!

The waiting...

This blog is dedicated to my grandson Marcus. He isn't even born yet, but I feel like he deserves his own special blog. He will be here soon enough, and the posting of his photos will begin shortly thereafter. Until then, photos of the very pregnant Michelle.
